Welcome back to Term 4. It is lovely to see all the children back, looking well rested and eager to go!!

In Literacy this week we worked on our grammar skills: using connectives, finding prepositional phrases ( on the shelf, behind the door ) and getting rid of double negatives ("didn't do nothing" ). For Writing we worked together to plan and create an imaginative story about winning a race. We wanted to practise our planning skills to support our Term 4 Writing Assessment next week. Our Reading Groups and Spelling Lists will commence next Monday.

In Numeracy we have been looking at Information Handling. We watched a powerpoint presentation on the various styles ( bar graphs, Venn diagrams, pie charts etc ) and learned how to interpret and create data displays.

Our topic for Term 4 is ' Forces, Electricity & Waves '. We started with looking at the various types of forces, and in particular friction. We hope to conduct our first scientific experiment next week.

For Art this term we will be studying the work of famous artists and trying to recreate their techniques in our own work. This week we looked at LS Lowry and his " matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs ". In P.E. we will be following the athletics programme in preparation for Sports Day, later in the term.

We will be starting Outdoor Learning next week. Our day for OL is a THURSDAY. Children should wear suitable outdoor clothes instead of a uniform. Please ensure your child has a change of shoes and a waterproof jacket as we will be going out in most weathers.  We hope to complete the 8 week P5 John Muir Challenge.

Please also note that a new Homework Grid will be on Seesaw for Monday.

Here's to a successful and funpacked final term. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.

Enjoy the weekend.
