Good afternoon,

This week began with us receiving a letter from Mother Goose, the agony aunt in the book,` Dear Mother Goose`, by Michael Rosen and Nick Sharratt. She was expressing her desire for a holiday and a rest from her job and we offered to answer her letters for her while she is away.
We enjoyed reading  `Dear Mother Goose` and the children learned how to play a `True or False Quiz`, a reading comprehension activity. Later in the week, the children practised this new skill as they answered ,`True or False` to written sentences about their reading book stories.
The children also learned to read and spell the common words; little and one, and after our -er phonics lesson, the word her as well.

The letter arrived from Mother Goose`s best friend, The Little Red Hen, on Friday. It was a letter written by the little old man from The Enormous Turnip story asking us to grow some potatoes for him. We then learned about how to plant potatoes and how to look after the plants as they grow. We planted them into our newly weeded class planter and are looking forward to watching them grow.

This week we completed our block of Gymnastics in P.E. The children rose to the challenge of incorporating the backward roll into their gymnastics sequence.

In Maths, as well as learning the subtraction facts for 6 and 7, we learned different words and phrases used for completing subtraction operations such as ; subtract 4 from 7, take 2 from 5 , 3 less than 6.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie, P1 and Ted.
