This week we started our new class novel 'The Train to Impossible Places' by P.G Bell. There was great excitement as we guessed and made predictions on where these impossible places could be. We had lots of children predicting space, the beach, back in time, etc check out Seesaw to see the wonderful illustrations and predictions made. This novel will spark our creativity and link nicely to our transport topic as we discover more about different types of transport.

We used our topic in Literacy to look at statements that were fact or opinion. Our detective skills enabled us to look at the language being used to see if the information was being bias. We also had a go at writing some facts and opinions for ourselves about the use of animals for transport. It was great to see the children debating using the language of opinion and also writing their thoughts.

In Numeracy, the Primary 4 pupils have been completing a topic overview as the Primary 3 pupils have finished up looking at fraction work. We have now looked at halves, quarters, thirds and how we can tell what a fraction of an amount is. We have been enjoying the associated fraction games in class and using our skills of strategy in these.

We have also got a new homework task for this term. This is linked to the pupils' favourite animal. As you can see on Seesaw this task has some suggestions on what to provide in the poster/presentation and I look forward to seeing and hearing these in June. You can either post presentations to Seesaw, bring them in to the school on a memory pen or e-mail the school office with the presentation. Equally the posters created can be handed in on the due date. Please also note spelling, reading and Sumdog are weekly challenges that have also been set alongside this presentation task.

If you have any queries or questions about this, please let me know,
Miss Graham
