Primary Two started their week with a really exciting visit from Zoolab. The children were able to learn lots of interesting facts about mini-beasts and touch or hold them. There was a giant snail, a cockroach, a scorpion and even a snake. We learned that a snake is not a mini-beast as it has bones. If you haven’t already please could you send in £2.50 for the Zoolab session, thank you.

We had another letter from Katie Morag this week with the story 'Katie Morag and the New Pier'. The children enjoyed sequencing the story using pictures and mixed up sentences. The children have been learning about adjectives and nouns. They were able to write sentences using the names of the characters (proper nouns) and adjectives for how they felt about the new pier.

In Numeracy we have been working on our quick recall our addition and subtraction facts to 10. We have been learning to write all the different sums that make a number. For example all the ways to make 13. 15 – 2, 6+7.

In writing we have been learning to write instructions and this week we were writing instructions to plant a blub.

In handwriting we have been practising our tall letters this week, We have been learning to form uppercase and lowercase i and l.

We very much enjoyed our trip to the woods on Wednesday and the children enjoyed using sticks and leaves to make homes for small animals and insects. We will be having two more outdoor learning session this term 28.11.19 and 5.12.19. Next week we are hoping to go to the woods again if the pavements are not icy and we have enough parent helpers. The last week will be in the school grounds.
Thank you for all your support with ‘Wellie Wednesday’.

The children are now bringing home a shared reading book on a Friday. This is a book to share and enjoy reading together. Please return the book on a Friday so your child can choose another.

Have a lovely weekend,

Natalie Elvin
