Another week has flown by and we continue to be very busy in Primary 5. We were delighted by the support shown by the Canmore community to our Jeans for Genes Day. We raised the fantastic sum of £340 and we would like to thank everyone for supporting this amazing charity.
In maths we have continued with our work on angles and directions, and this week we have had a big focus on recognising different types of angles.Yesterday we went outside and took photos of angles in our environment and I was very impressed at how good the children were at finding and naming them.
In social studies we have been learning about food webs, and we have looked at how so many different things in a food web are affected by one small change. They were quite tricky to create but the children rose to the challenge.
In health and well-being we are revisiting the various learning powers and reminding ourselves of what they are and why they are important. This week we have been learning about the importance of concentration and creativity in our learning. To test how well we could concentrate we had fun playing 'I went to the supermarket and I bought ...' and to challenge our creativity we thought of lots of different uses for everyday objects.
We have in our classroom a 'harvest box' for the collection of dried and tinned foods and toiletries. These will be given out to families and individuals in need of this type of support. If you have anything you would like to donate, please hand it in by Friday 2nd October.
I hope you have a fun and safe weekend, and that the weather is nice enough to be outside to meet with family and friends.
