This year Primary 5 have volunteered to take on the responsibility of running our annual Jeans for Genes Day fund raising event. Today we have started planning for the event which is on Friday 20th September. Some of the class are very busy planning presentations to make at next weeks assemblies, others are designing colourful and attractive posters to advertise the event and a group are researching different activities for classes to do on the day.
As part of our Science project we have been busy designing and building helter skelters to show what we have learned about friction. We have to create a slide that a lego figure can slide down safely. This is proving lots of fun, but quite challenging and is involving lots of problem solving skills.
In Literacy, we have been developing our summarising skills. We are learning to identify the main points in a text and we are using the 5 finger strategy to help us write our summaries.
We would like to congratulate Jamie Chisholm on being voted the Sports Team member for our class. This is a new group in school who will help work towards achieving a special School Sports Award.
Have a lovely weekend
