We have been continuing to build our understanding of the concept of money this week. We have been counting amounts of money, and laying out coins to make amounts, up to five pounds. We have also been finding change from up to £1.

Some children have been chosen to represent the school at the Athletics Festival on Monday. I am sure all the children who attend will have a great time and will work well to support each other as a team.

During our writing session this week, the children watched a short cartoon about an Egyptian explorer. They used this as a stimulus for their own Egyptian pyramid adventure. Everyone made a super effort to try and use interesting verbs and adjectives to bring their stories alive. I am in the process of adding the stories to Seesaw. I hope you enjoy reading them.

It was World Book Day on Thursday and the children looked at the work of the illustrator Quentin Blake. They had a go at taking part in a draw along with Mr Blake who was sketching the character Willie Wonka. I was amazed at the results. The children are beginning to realise that when they break a picture down into lines and patterns, it makes it easier to draw.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Kind regards, Mrs Thomson & P3
