Good afternoon.

It has been another busy week in Primary 1/2. A highlight of this week was the surprise arrival of a new class member all the way from Canada, a teddy bear called Baby Bear. He came with a letter from his Mummy asking if he could join our class and if we could give him a new name for his time at Canmore. We were all super excited!
We suggested lots of different names and voted for our favourite. The tally marks showed us that the winning name was `Charlie'.  The children have been doing a fantastic job of helping Charlie settle into school life, showing him how we behave in class and how we can show kindness to others. After he left a mess in the classroom, we discussed some rules of our classroom to support Charlie in staying safe whilst at school. The P2’s did a fantastic job of creating the posters for our ‘Class Charter’ display, during writing.
We have really enjoyed learning more and more about each other this week. We have loved looking at the photographs of each of our families and discussing, writing and drawing pictures of what we like doing with our own families.
In Numeracy the P2’s have started learning to subtract. Miss Yorkston has been impressed by how well we can all count backwards from 10, this will be a useful skill for next week when we learn to subtract using the ‘counting back’ strategy.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
