Welcome to Canmore’s P7a classroom! We have had a fantastic start to the academic year with a jam packed term 1. We helped organise and run the MacMillan Coffee morning this year and managed to raise £734 for an absolutely fantastic cause!
In our maths we worked on place value, multiplication and division. In literacy we read Millions which we enjoyed and practised letter writing, creative stories and email writing. We kick started the year with a fitness program for PE and did a range of aerobics and circuits to develop our strength and stamina.
In science we looked into how to create a fair test, we conducted a range of emperiments exploring the differences between a physical change and chemical reaction. This was followed by investigations into solubility.
Our topic has been on China, we are researching it’s geography, culture, history and mythology. This topic will continue to December.

Term 2 is going to be even busier with all the children very excited about our residential trip to Ardroy Outdoor Activity Centre. We will be working towards gaining our John Muir Awards which is all about discovering, exploring and conserving wild places and subsequently sharing what you have learnt when we get back to school.
In maths we will be focusing on addition, subtraction, negative, numbers decimals and money.
in literacy we will be doing some more creative writing with a focus on descriptive details and develop our reading comprehension skills.
This term will also have the Christmas Fayre, we will be making items to sell to raise money for the school. We will finish the term by helping the P1s with their nativity performance and then our Christmas parties before we say goodbye to 2018.
