It has been a wonderful week in Primary 6!

We were super excited to be reunited with friends on Monday. So many happy, smiling faces and everyone just delighted to be back together again.  The children have grown and stretched over the last 11 weeks. They have settled back well and have worked hard this week. On Monday a lot of time was spent catching up with friends and classmates and gently easing back into a routine.  It was wonderful to allow the children the time to reconnect and to enjoy one another's company.

During the last week of home learning everyone got the name of a classmate they had to write a letter to. In the letter they spoke about what they have done in this time at home and what they were looking forward to. It was lovely to hand these over.

As part of Health and Well-Being we are looking at security and belonging and for this we are representing ourselves as trees with trunks, branches, leaves, flowers and fruit.  These are developing really well and will be revealed next week. We had excellent discussions about our strengths, hopes/dreams and people that support us and we have spent a good chunk of time on this activity. A fun part is that you can add something to the tree of someone else.

Everyone also created a postive word with the first letter of their name and surname and we will pick a word every morning and do a little activity about it.

We started a new novel called 'Cloud Busting' by Marjorie Blackman. It is all about friendships and not judging others.  It is very interesting as the novel is written as poems. As an activity everyone wrote a free choice poem and made a little illustration.

The bright, sunny weather has lifted everyone's spirits this week and it was great to play Ga Ga Go again in PE.

For our topic on Earth and Space we used our problem solving skills to construct space shuttles from white paper. They were fun to create even though there were some tricky parts. Everyone helped the person they sat next to.  These will also be revealed next week when we have completed all the details.

All pupils said thank you to their parents for their help over the last nine weeks of home learning by creating a paper bouquet for mum and a Superhero activity for dad. You are our heroes! Thank you for all you have done for us.

We concluded the week celebrating Red Nose Day and took part in a potato and spoon race.  Thank you to Primary 4 for organising this.

A little reminder that PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays so children can come in dressed in sports kit.

We wish everyone a happy, sunny weekend!
