Good Afternoon

Well what a treat I have had this week, having the opprtunity to listen to all the fabulous poetry recitals. Everyone has done an amazing job over the past two weeks learning their poems and their hard work has been demonstrated wonderfully in class. Well done again to our three finalists, Arran, Eilidh and Jaymi, you all wowed us on Monday and Tuesday with your recitals. Congratulations to our our overall winner ..... Jaymi Crawford.

Sticking with the Scottish theme and to celebrate 'Rabbie Burns Day', on Thursday, we enjoyed sharing in a Ceildh and Scottish food tasing afternoon with Primary 3/4.

In Literacy this week we have been focusing on using adjectives to add detail to our writing. On Monday after reading a story about a 'Cheeky Sparrow' we worked together in small groups to think of adjectives for some different graden birds. We then used these adjectives to write a paragraph about our chosen Bird. We also learned how to write an acrostic poem for another garden bird of our choice. Please see Seesaw for photographs of our work.

In Numeracy we have been learning to subtract a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number using an empty numberline. We have been focusing on counting backwards in tens and would benefit from continuing to do this at home to gain confidence.  We also had a special visitor on Wednesday, Mr Grew, who came to teach us about making good choices when spending and saving our Money.

With the Music festival  being less than a week away we have spent some time every day this week, practising the three songs we will be singing on the day. We have enjoyed learning these songs as well as the actions and are thankful to Mrs Baxter for giving up her own time to return to Canmore and support us.

Just a reminder that next week we will be attending the music festival on Wednesday morning. Please ensure that children are wearing FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM on this day.

Also next week we invite you to come into school on Tuesday Morning at  9:15 -9:45 am for our first 'Sharing the learning' morning.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend
