This week inspired by St Andrew's Day, we had a go at some ceilidh dancing. This allowed us to enjoy reviewing some dances we already knew and have a go at some traditional dances for this time of year. We will continue to dance in preparation for our Christmas party at the end of the year and also for any family events/celebrations.
We learnt some facts about St Andrew's day and focused in on some vocabulary specific to this event.

In numeracy, we have started to look at the third mathematical operation-multiplication. It is SO IMPORTANT that we know our times tables and can QUICKLY recall these. Please continue to practice at home any multiplication fact families that your child needs reinforcement in. There is lots of games online to do this. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/multiplication-and-division

In literacy, we have started to look at a WAGOLL for writing a biography. Our literacy circles in the morning are also now part of our daily routine. This term the activities set up for the children each morning, allow them to practice their spelling, their understanding of new vocabulary/text and handwriting. Hopefully you have seen an improvement with this new approach we have been trialling in our class each morning. Do remember that the spelling list is only a guide and children should ADD personal words from their reading, own knowledge to supplement their spelling homework task.

As it has now turned December, we have been working hard at our enterprise project. After our Edinburgh focus, this small topic will take us right up to Christmas and we look forward to selling you our products NEXT FRIDAY at our Christmas fair! Watch Seesaw for further details.

Have a wonderful first weekend in December,
Miss Graham
