What a quick week that was! After a long weekend of beautfiul sunshine, it was lovely to come back into another week refreshed and ready to go.
This week we have been continuing our diary entry reports and after Paddington Bear's surprise tea visit with the Queen, Primary 4/5 had a lot to write about! We watched and discussed the short clip, using our colourful semantics to make simple inferences. We then used this to create a diary report based on Paddington's experience. We have really been working hard at using expressive language in our work, making sure we not only describe events in the correct sequence but also making sure to include emotions/feelings.

This week we have also focused on keeping healthy. We have talked about having a healthy mind and body, discussing things that were damaging and helpful for our mental/physical health. On Wednesday, we looked at how to keep our teeth healthy. We focused on the different ways we can look after our teeth and looked at the impact of different food groups causing decay.
The children learnt lots of new facts about teeth, including the four different types of teeth. Please ask me at home if I remember this!

It was also lovely to have time outdoors encouraging our positive mental health on Friday during our Natural Connection Award session. We have really loved getting outside into our school green space and completing our tasks around:
  • Discovering nature
  • Working together
  • Adventure skills
  • Finding your way
  • Journeying
  • Helping the environment
We will be looking specficially at the journeying section of the award by completing our trip to and around Duloch woods. What an adventure we have in store for next week! We look forward to sharing all about it soon! Thank you for being very prompt at getting the forms/permission slips back related to this. A special thanks to those who have also indicated and agreed with me to attend our trip.

Another thank you also goes to everyone who has handed in their homework and shared their reading with the class this week. We have loved hearing all about the different novels/authors and have some new ideas of authors/books that we would like to read.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Graham
