Happy New Year from P6b. In class, we started off 2019 by looking forward to how we wish to grow over the next few months. Our resolution tree will remain here in class to remind us of our goals and how we will achieve them, step-by-step.

Looking back over 2018 just before the holidays has made us realise just how much work we got through last year. We have come a long way since the summer!

As term 3 is our longest term it is also one of the hardest working terms and time to tackle some of our more challenging work. Within numeracy, we will be looking at how to calculate and convert between percentages, decimal fractions and simple fractions. Our work in fractions will then extend on to irregular fractions and real-life based problem solving.

In Literacy, we will be using this term to develop our script writing and presentation skills. This will be done through stand-alone classwork and through links to Digital Literacy and our Social Studies topic, Mary, Queen of Scots.

As our Social Studies topic can be quite a challenge for the children to fully grasp all the complexities of, we will be trying to bring a modern twist to the story of Mary by retelling it in a Panorama/News Night type BBC investigative expose way! Animation, journalism, script writing, acting skills, tv presentation, debating, camera skills, production skills, organisation skills, advertising, art work, audience awareness etc, etc. The list could go on and on. One thing is for sure – we will be hard at work!

Kind regards,
P6b and Mr Morgan.
