This week in Health and Wellbeing, we made pumpkin soup. We were divided into five groups for this collaborative task and each person had a role in the cooking process. Some pupils had to follow instructions to select ingredients and cut them into small chunks. The boys and girls had to be very careful using sharp knives and potato peelers. We also explored the types of vegetables in season and chose pumpkin, potatoes, onions and carrots as our soup base. We discussed how to limit food waste and we can share our tips with you at home!

In Numeracy, we have been learning how to calculate the perimeter. Some pupils have been learning how to calculate the perimeter of more complex compound shapes. The other two groups enjoyed some problem solving tasks in partners. We are becoming more confident with measure and especially perimeter. Next week we will be moving on from measure to look at different mental and written strategies for addition.

In Mental Maths, we have enjoyed playing Numicon games to practise our number bonds skills. We have also been learning how to use Seesaw in ICT. We hope to share our outstanding work with you soon.

Linked to Halloween in Literacy, we have focused on rhyming patterns. We used our knowledge and understanding to create some spells using the ABAB pattern. We also looked at what a good informal letter looks like as we prepare to write letters for our Enterprise project.

We have had a fun packed week and look forward to focusing more on our Enterprise work in the next few weeks.

This week Miss Graham would like to give a special mention to Weronika and Isla for helping Miss Graham with the class app message.
