It has been an extremely busy week in P5/6.  The most pleasing aspect is the very positive attitude shown by everyone.

This week we focused on the layout of our Maths and Language  jotters and Mrs Wehmeyer is  happy to say everyone has managed to do this very well. The work has also been very neat and tidy.  Well done everyone!

In Maths we are looking at different aspects of Place Value.  We started by playing a number recognition race game.  We also looked at greater than/ bigger than and less than/smaller than.  To aid our understanding we played a two player game using dice and a dry erase board.  We then moved on to identifying the value of specific digits in a given number. Everyone is benefiting from working alongside a maths buddy and it has been wonderful to see the great teamwork that has been on display.

In PE we played the fantastic Hoop Caterpillar game.  Lots of fun and laughter was had and there were lots of red faces afterwards.

For Writing we are focusing on setting a scene for a story by using a variety of figurative language.  Everyone tried very hard with their story set in the woods. We are planning to continue our story and build it up in sections.  We planned very well together and lots of fabulous ideas were shared.
Thank you to Hannah and Anna for using paint and pastic bags to create an Earth for our display wall.  For  Art we drew a self portrait  on a circular piece of card to be placed around the Earth.  It will form part of our display on Planet Earth. We are enjoying our project work on Planet Earth and have looked at the four seasons on Earth.  We can identify all the continents and oceans of the world and some interesting facts about each one.

A little reminder to come in outdoor learning clothing on Wednesdays to support our work for the John Muir award.  Some sensible, sturdy shoes/wellies , a fresh pair of socks and a rain jacket is advisable,

The Social Target Winner of the Week is Duncan.  Duncan is always respectful and polite towards all adults and his classmates.   Well done Duncan!

Finally, I hope  everyone enjoyed visiting the classroom area this afternoon. It was lovely to show you around our classroom area.
We wish everyone a restful weekend!
