Good afternoon,

A highlight from this week was our Outdoor Learning Day. We know how important it is to look after our school environment and we very much enjoyed taking part in the school litter pick. We collected some natural items for example, leaves, sticks, grass etc... and then made our own creative pictures.

This term our project is Children Around the world. This week we have been looking at maps of the UK and the world learning what countries are in the UK and the world is made up of seven continents.

In Literacy we started reading a new novel called 'Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. This week we have been learning to predict. Flat Stanley was invited to go see his friend in California but couldn't afford the plane fare so we predicted how Flat Stanley could travel. You can see your child's work on Seesaw.

As it is Guy Fawkes night for writing we wrote sense poems, we used adjectives to make our writing more exciting.  We also made firework pictures.

In Phonics, we have been learning to read and write the 'qu’ sound. On Seesaw you will find a homework activity for the ‘qu' sound. Please complete the 'qu’ page this week in your phonics homework booklet.

In Numeracy, we have been learning to use doubles and near doubles. We learned that we could use our double facts to help us answer other sums. We have also been learning the addition facts for 11 and 12. We have been using materials such as cubes and numicon to help us.

As next Friday is an In-Service day so there will be no outdoor learning. Our next Outdoor learning will be Friday 19th November.

Have a great weekend!
