Good afternoon,
This week we have been learning about where electricity comes from. We learned that electricity can be produced by solar panels, hydroelectric plants, wind turbines and power stations. The highlight this week was making a model of a wind turbine.

In Literacy we read ‘Augustus and His Smile' by Catherine Rayner and again we discussed the main idea of the story. We drew a picture and wrote a sentence to share what the story was about. In Writing, we wrote sentences about what makes us smile, see Seesaw for a picture of your child’s writing.

In Phonics we have been learning to read and write the 'ch’ sound. On Seesaw you will find a homework activity for the 'ch' sound. Please complete the 'ch' page this week in your phonics homework booklet.

In Numeracy, we have been learning to count by 2’s from an even and an odd number.  We have also been learning to count by 3’s. We have been practising our number formation and trying hard to write our numbers the correct way round.

Each day we have been taking part in the Daily Mile Destination challenge. We are aiming to travel round the world by taking part in a 15-minute Daily Mile each day. We have already made it to France, Italy and Russia on our Daily Mile map and we are now making our way to Egypt.

We all very much enjoyed the MacMillan fun day, the Race for Life and our first outdoor learning session. We will have another outdoor session next Friday afternoon so please again send you child in warm sports clothing, not school uniform and bring wellies, a waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers (if they have them).

Thank you to all parents who have ensured that lunch choices have been completed. This is very much appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend!
Mrs Elvin
