Good Afternoon,
In Phonics we have been learning the phonic sound 'al'. We have been learning to read and write 'al' words. We also consolidated last week sound which has two spellings, 'au/aw'. Please complete the phonic worksheet from your homework pack.
In Literacy we have been continuing reading the Sheep-Pig by Dick King Smith. We were very excited as Babe is getting ready to take part in the Sheep-dog trials. We are looking forward to finishing the book and then watching the film next week.
In Numeracy we have been continuing our work on fractions and have been finding 1/2 and 1/4 of objects. We also learned that halving objects equally is like dividing and we learned to divide by 2.
In Writing, we wrote about the day in the life of a farmer. We watched a clip that showed us a typical day for a farmer. We then drew a mindmap of the day and wrote sentences. We thought that the farmer's day was very busy.
The highlight of our week was participating in the ‘flat races’ that we were unfortunately unable to do as part of our Sports Day. I was very impressed by the Sportsmanship we demonstrated towards each other after each race.
Thank you for your continued support with Outdoor learning. The children have received their Bronze natural connections certificate today at Reconnector time. Well done to the whole class for all their hard work. Next week Friday 18th will be our last outdoor learning session for the term.
For your information our class took part in the Courier's 'Draw your Dad' Feature.
A selection of entires will be appear in the paper next Wednesday 16th June.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Elvin
