Good Afternoon,

This week in Numeracy we have been continuing learning to subtract. We have been learning to subtract from 20, using a number line and counting backwards.

In Literacy this week, we have enjoyed listening to the story of Hansel and Gretel and used our writing skills to retell the story. In Phonics, we have been learning the 'or' sound. We have been reading and writing different words with the 'or' sound. One of our favourite activities this week was 'I spy' as we had to look carefully at the pictures to find the objects that had the 'or' sound and then use our phonic sounds to write the words.

Our highlight this week was learning about the Scottish Access Code. We worked with a partner to explore a countryside picture. We were looking at the picture and discussing all the different activities the people were doing in the country. We learned that its important to respect other people and animals and to protect our environment so everyone can enjoy the outdoors.

In Discovery Learning, the children were enjoying exploring the farm and the animals. There has been lots of creating of books, houses and other objects.

In Health and Wellbeing, we have been learning about being the boss of our angry feelings. We listened to the story 'Angry Arthur' and discussed times when we get angry. We talked about how we can be the boss of our feelings by remembering that we are in control, we can stay calm and we think before we act. We talked about how mindfulness breathing can help when we feel overwhelmed by our feelings.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Elvin
