Good afternoon,

This week in Numeracy we have been working on subtraction. For Mental Maths, we have been developing our mental subtraction using our 'counting back' strategy. We will continue this strategy daily to help increase our speed.  We also went to the ICT Suite on Monday to practise our mental maths by playing maths games from the Topmarks website. The children really enjoyed the Addition Robot game.

In Literacy this week, we have started our learning on homophones. We learned that homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings and spelling. We focused on learning 'two, to and too' and decided what word to use in a variety of sentences.  In phonics, we have been learning to read and write words with the 'oi' sound.

We have continued our reading of the novel Sheep-pig by Dick King-Smith and have been learning about farms. We have been learning that our food is either grown, reared or caught. We discussed the different animals you would find on a farm and what food comes from different animals.

Enjoy your long weekend and I will see all the pupils on Tuesday,
Kind Regards
Mrs Elvin
