Good Afternoon,

This week in numeracy, we continued our learning about numbers being made out of tens and ones. We have been finding all the the ways to make  14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. We have continued practisng our counting forward and back.

In literacy we have been learning to give our opinions. We read 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Breakfast’ by Ronda and David Armitage and then drew a picture and wrote a sentence explaining our favourite part of the story,

A highlight from this week was our Science experiment to find out which material would be suitable to make an umbrella for the gingerbread person. We looked at the materials and discussed the properties of the materials. We talked about the words transparent, absorbent and waterproof. We found that the kitchen roll was too absorbent but the plastic bag was strong and waterproof so would make the best material.

In writing we used the strategy 'I see, I think, I wonder'. We looked at the picture carefully and wrote sentences. We tried hard to think of adjectives to describe the picture, humongous and enormous was two of our favourite words to describe the wave.

This week’s social target was 'I can show thoughtfulness and be helpful towards others'. Well done to Vincent Hurst  who is our social target winner.

I wish you all a happy and relaxing holiday,
Mrs Elvin
