Good Afternoon,

This week in Numeracy, we have been learning that a number is made up of tens and ones. We have been finding all the the ways to make 11, 12 and 13. We have also been practising counting forward and back.

In Literacy we read 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Catastrophe’ by Ronda and David Armitage.  We have been continuing to learning how to unjumble a sentence. We had to read the words carefully and decide the order to make the sentence make sense. We found it quite tricky when there were 4 or more words but we all persevered and managed to make all the sentences make sense.

A highlight from this week was our design challenge to make a lighthouse. We decorated a paper cup and then made a working circuit with a switch. We all enjoyed putting the light on top of our lighthouse and turning it on. We learned that inside the small electric candle was the electric circuit we had made but using a smaller battery, wires, light bulb and switch.

In Writing we were learning how to write instructions. We wrote instructions on how to build an electric circuit with a switch. We used the openers, first, then, next, after and finally, even using our 'bossy' verbs to write the instructions. Primary two worked really hard and were given house points for their great writing.

Have a look on Seesaw to see all our learning this week, you will be able to see a video clip of the class taking part in their fitness circuit.

This week’s social target was 'I can show resilience'. Well done to Naia Meach who is our Social Target winner.

Have a lovely weekend!
