Good Afternoon,

This week in Numeracy, we have been learning sequential patterns and completing our own sequential shape patterns. We have also been learning about number patterns and completing number patterns by using the skill of counting on and back and finding the number before or after.

In Literacy we read 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Rescue' by Ronda and David Armitage.  We have been learning to unjumble a sentence. We had to read the words carefully and decide the order to make the sentence make sense. To help us, we looked out for a word that started with a capital letter as this would go at the beginning of the sentence and a word with a full stop as this would go at the end of the sentence.

In writing we looked at a picture of a lighthouse. We used the strategy of 'I see I think I wonder' to write sentences about the picture.  Have a look on seesaw to see your child's writing.  We have been focusing on the skill of using adjectives to describe what we see, as well as capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and using our sounds to help us spell.

A highlight from this week was learning to create a simple circuit to light a bulb. All the children got an experience of connecting the battery pack with the cables to the light bulb. We talked about how the circuit had to connected in a continuous loop to make the light turn on.

This week’s social target was ' I can look after my school environment demonstrating responsibility and respect. Well done to Brax Murray who is our Social Target winner.

Have a lovely weekend!
