Dear parents and carers,
We have had a fabulous last week of term.

In literacy, the children have now presented and recorded their fact files on an Edinburgh landmark. These will be available to view after the holidays. We also wrote information reports on a subject of their choice. The topics ranged from sports, such as ‘Hockey’ and ‘Scooting’, to ‘How to keep pets’, and have been a joy to read.

In maths we have been polishing our skills in line graph drawing and discussing how neat presentation and even spacing of numbers is essential in order to display information truthfully.

We had a highly informative visit from a local Rotarian, Janet, who delivered a talk on the Rotary’s project with UNICEF to eradicate Polio worldwide and the complexities involved in doing this. Our P6 pupils had excellent questions and thoughts on this subject.

We also presented our Paolozzi inspired sculptures in our wet area turned gallery. There were many noted sculptures for good design (strength and appearance) and Natalia, Emily, Katie and Freya in P6B won the pupil choice.

We hope you all have a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

Best wishes,
Mrs Brand and Mrs Elvin.
