On Monday's Reconnector Janet from Robertsons Homes spoke to the children about the importance of being safe near a building site. The children listened well and designed a safety poster, with the winner getting a tour around their local building site.

We are continuing our Improving Writing programme in Literacy, with daily opportunities to write on a number of subjects. This week we looked at a black and white photograph of a soldier, a video story called Rock, Paper & Scissors and a sinking boat picture. The children are doing really well with the practise of  their spelling group words. It's been lovely to see on Seesaw all the diferent ways the children have come up with whilst practising at home too.

In Numeracy we were looking at more addition strategies, including vertical or 'chimney' sums.  We were practising adding tens and near tens as well as  working on addition within 100 and 1000. Some of us were completing some challenging 4 digit addition word problems too.

In our topic work we are finishing off the research of all 5 oceans now and have been making comparisons and contrasts between them. We hope to move onto studying pollution and conservation next week. In gym we practised throwing a ball at a target and we got to 'shoot some hoops' at the end of the lesson.

We rounded off another busy week with a fun dress down day to acknowledge Jeans for Genes Day. There was a 'design your dream denim outfit' competition being run by Mrs Haddow and P4, with the winners being announced next week. Thank you for all your kind donations.

Have a great weekend.
