We had fun on Thursday having a trial run for next week's Sports Day; fingers crossed the sun will be out next time !!

In Literacy we added known prefixes to root words to see how many 'new' words we could make. From 6 words our record was 23; not bad. We also created our favourite fruit summer smoothie recipe in Writing and practised copying from the smart board for Handwriting. We chose a funny poem about why fire engines are red and illustrated the line of connections as an explanation.

For Numeracy we focused on volume and capacity as part of our unit on Measurement. We are getting quite efficient at converting and ordering units of measurement now, including fractions of litres.

In ICT we have started to research our own personal projects. The variety of topics is diverse and really interesting. I'm looking forward to looking at them, once finished.

For Outdoor Learning this week we supported the P2s who were making scarecrows. It was great fun and the girls and boys were fantastic at helping the wee ones. You may have spotted our rather tall visitors, hanging around the garden area...

On Friday we made our own class summer smoothie, as a follow on from our Writing and to support our measuring skills from Numeracy.  We took them outside to enjoy.

Don't forget that next week is a holiday Monday and Tuesday for the children. Have a fantastic extra long weekend. ☀️
