Welcome back to Term 2. We've hit the ground running this week ...

In Literacy we practised our sentence writing, creating more exciting openers; this time using -ed past tense words. We learned about the history of Hallowe'en during our reading comprehension and wrote a sensory poem in writing all about Hallowe'en, using our knowledge of similes to add extra description.

In Numeracy we have been looking at adding 2/3 digit numbers using the vertical method ( 'chimney sums' ). We used the wooden 'Hundreds, Tens and Ones' to help with our understanding and practised setting out our work in jotters neatly and under the correct headings. Some of us are investigating subraction too, although this is proving a little trickier.

We watched some short videos about oil spills as part of our topic 'Oceans' and recreated our own shoreline and oil spill in class. We learned about the terrible impact that they have on our seas and the reliant wildlife. We also found out about tsunamis and their often devastating impact too.

In Art we focused on Hallowe'en craft to decorate the classroom. The children have been very excited all week, in anticipation of the school Hallowe'en disco and those that were able to attend had a fantastically 'spooky' time. A huge thank you to the PTA and everyone who helped to make it possible.

Just a reminder that P5b's PE days for Term Two remain a MONDAY and THURSDAY.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy that extra hour in bed !!
