It was so lovely to see all our P5b families at our Meet the Teacher afternoon last Friday. We hope you enjoyed being back in school and having the opportunity to be shown a round the class.

This week in Literacy we were looking for 'words witihn words' as part of our work to develop our reading and spelling. We continued our descriptive work in Writing, creating exciting opening paragraphs for our pirate ship imaginative story. We also completed a comprehension activity to further enhance our literacy skills and had fun playing a Boggle style word game together. With a little time to spare at the end of the day on Wednesday, we had the opportunity to play an interactive game of Hangman which proved very popular. We are continuing to enjoy our class novel 'Lampie' and great discussions are arising as we speculate what Lampie and 'the monster' might do next.

In Numeracy we finished off our current work on Place Value and now plan to use our newly heightened skills to complete addition and subtraction work for the rest of the term. The class have had the opportunity to try numeracy challenge sheets to further consolidate our skills; this week mainly focussing on logic problems.

We are loving our Oceans topic this term as we continued further research this week, finding all about the Pacific Ocean, the planet's largest ocean. We have used our ICT time and Reading Comprehension tiem to collect information and make illustrated  booklets. For Art we made whale pictures using recycled newspaper as our background to further highlight the sadly growing pollution in our seas.

In P.E. we are continuing our theme of team skiils, learning the rules and tactics required for Rounders.

Wishing everyone a restful, extended weekend.
