After practicing for the last few weeks Primary 5A were very excited to recite our Scottish poems in front of their classmates. Although some of us were a bit nervous we all confidently recited in front of our classmates.  It has been a wonderful effort by everyone with fantastic expression, gestures and change in tone of voice used to recite our poems. Mrs Wehmeyer was most impressed with the effort shown by all the boys and girls. Well done everyone!
Seven children were chosen and they were:  Lucy, Phoebe, Aaron, Calin
Freya G, Hannah and Aidan.  Three finalists were chosen from these by their classmates to recite their poem to Mrs Howie and Mrs Ewing.  Well done Aaron, Hannah and Aidan.  You were all brilliant and will have an opportunity to recite your poem at the Reconnector on Monday.
On Wednesday we celebrated Burns Day at school. We took part in a variety of Scottish activities like a Burns fact file, creating a tartan with a Scottish thistle and a Haggis drive in the afternoon. We also had the opportunity to taste some shortbread and Irn Bru.
We are working hard on consolidating our time tables to assist us with our number work on Fractions.  We are getting a lot better a quicker recall of our our tables.  We also looked at common denominators and how that can help us find equivalent fractions. We are enjoying working along to Scott Morrow on our whiteboards and have taken part in excellent discussions and investigations of fraction problems,
in our block of personal writing we wrote about our favourite place.  We focused on expressing our feelings and describing using more interesting figurative language techniques.
Our Social Target winner of the Week is Freya G. Freya has listened well to the teacher and her classmates this week. Congratulations!
We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
