It has been a very quick week in Primary 5A with lots of hard work and effort being shown by all of the boys and girls.
Our week started with a visit to the Book Fayre where we had the opportunity to buy or reserve a book.
A group of 17 children entered the Fife Sumdog competition and they have played every day at school in groups of four.  It has been a team effort with everyone encouraging one another and taking their time to answer the 1000 questions.  Some questions were also answered at home.  P5A has won the Fife Sumdog Contest with a brilliant average score of 801.  What a wonderful achievement boys and girls! You were all spectacular and Mrs Wehmeyer is so proud of all of you. Congratulations goes to Calin for his 7th position in the contest. Mrs Howie highlighted this success at our Reconnector this morning.
We are working hard on multiplication/division strategies and looked specifically at times/divide by 10, 100 and 1000. We also looked at
doubling/halving and highest and lowest common factors. We will now move onto column multiplication and look at the box method in division.
In literacy we used a specific word or phrase to expand into a short story. Everyone really enjoyed this actvitiy.  We completed our Story of a Plastic Bag in writing and there are some very imaginative stories. Well done everyone!
We had a lot of fun practicing some Scottish Country Dancing with Mrs Heggie and P5B.  Everyone picked up the steps really quickly and enjoyed spending time together as a P5 year group.
We looked at a very informative video about wind turbines and wind farms and how they are used to generate electricity.  We found out  about the four types of wind turbines and drew a diagram that we completed with the correct labels.
We have now set up our Enterprise Company and it is called 'Wee Christmas Crafters.'  The name is a combination of Aidan and Isla C's suggestions. Everyone designed a logo and Hannah's logo was selected as the winner. Fantastic effort!  The managers of our company is Phoebe and Eduardo.  Anna and Lexxi are the finance managers, Ava S and Phoebe are the production managers, Isla C is the advertising manager, Aidan is the market research manager and Freya H is the quality control manager.  Well done to all of you on your selection as managers.  We are very excited about making our items for the Christmas Fayre.  Some pictures of all the departments of our Enterprise will follow next week.
A minute silence was held today to mark Remembrance Day. We had a super discussion on why we celebrate Remembrance Day in this way, the importance of the poppy flower and the Scottish Poppy Appeal charity.
Our Social Target of the Week winner is Brooke Davidson who is always respectful to all adults and her classmates. Well done!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
