It has been a lovely week in P5/6.It is great to see lots of happy, smiling faces and a willingness to "be the best we can be".
We took part in a variety of Health and Well-Being activities this week.  It is so important to talk about our feelings. We are making our own Kitbag  in class.  This has been a most enjoyable project. We also completed some mindfulness excercises and a booklet to celebrate how unique we are.  In Writing we wrote an "All About Me" poem.  We enjoyed a "Circle Time" activity and showed great listening and talking skills.
We now regularly have a classroom huddle where we just sit and talk about news from home or where we  share worries or things that we struggle with.  We are also trying to "catch" a classmate being kind or helpful, or saying something nice to a classmate.  This includes showing respect and consideration towards all adults in our school.  We are really grateful for all their help and support.
After taking part in passing and stopping skills in Football, we enjoyed cooling down by taking part in Zen Breathing. It was very peaceful and calming.
In Numeracy we have being looking at length.  We had the opportunity to measure a variety of objects in class and we showed great teamwork in our pairs. We also explored the strategy of Grid Multiplication.  Everyone engaged well with this activity and showed their working out.
We continue to work hard on our Spelling.  A recent assessment showed that we are all improving with our spelling.  We are getting better at identifying our mistakes and correcting them.  This week we used the Dice Spelling activity to complete our task. Spelling can be a great cause of anxiety for some children in class and we are trying to make it as much fun as possible. It is also totally "Ok" to make mistakes. That is how we learn.
For Outdoor Learning we created a poem on birds.  We completed our bird posters last week. We used the information from our bird posters to create a poem.  Super descriptive language were used in these poems and the children wrote some excellent poems. Mrs Wehmeyer is looking forward to reading these.
Well done to everyone focusing on improving the presentation in your jotters.  Work is really neat and tidy and it is great to see everyone taking pride in their work.
Fantastic homework has been completed this week.  Thank you to parents for taking the time to share in your child's learning and for making regular, positive comments on Seesaw.
Our Social Target Winner of the Week is Isla Reid.  Isla has shown a growth mindset this week and has been making sensible choices. Well done Isla!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
