It has been a wonderful week in P5/6!
We celebrated Burns Day on Thursday by having some Irn Bru and Scottish treats.  Everyone did a most fantastic job with their poem recitals and it was extremely difficult to choose the finalists.  Congratulations goes to Aidan, Grace and Lylah on their very accomplished recitals.  All three children effectively used facial expression, gestures, change in tone of voice and sometimes also a prop.  A Highly Commended class award also goes to Phoebe for her very confident recital of "Up in the Morning Early" by Robert Burns.  Well done to all of you!
As part of Scottish week we have been bust creating Scottish landscapes.  These artworks, inspred by the art of Ritchie Collins, is wonderful and full of little details.  All the children excelled in this task and had a lot of fun exploring the properties of watercolour pencils. Oil pastels were also used to give more depth to the sea and the sky.  They are just fantastic and will make a very special gift or they will look great in a frame.
We consolidated Rounding by working together on whiteboards.  We explored different strategies to assist our understanding of this tricky concept.  It was great to see everyone engaged in this task and asking to do more.
In Writing we wrote an imaginitive story about a "Magical Morning" or about the "Jar Wizard."  We utelised a picture prompt to help us come up with an idea for our stories.  Mrs Wehmeyer are looking forward to reading these.  There are some very accomplished writers in the class and the presentationin the writing jotters is of a high standard.
We are really enjoying working together in groups on our bird posters.  Everyone has been given a specific job to do and it will form a great display as part of Ourdoor Learning and the  John Muir award.
We are getting excited about our performance at the Fife Music Festival next week.  We know all the words and we are busy perfecting our performance.  Once again, thank you to all the parents who said they would help with the P5/6 and P6 group and the choir.  Your help is much appreciated. Please ensure all chilren are dressed in full school uniform on the day.  Ties can be borrowed from the school.
Our Social Target Winner of the Week is Hannah.  Hannah gives her best effort and is always engaged in all her tasks.  Well done Hannah!
Have a relaxing weekend!
