It has been a week of cold, dark starts in the mornings but we have worked very hard on a variety of tasks in class where it has been warm and bright!
In Maths we have completed our work on Column Subtraction. The children have showed a lot of resilience and have tried their best with this tricky concept. They have benefited from plenty of practice.  We will definitely revisit this later in the year.  We have moved onto recognition of 3D shapes and identification of parallel and perpendicular lines in shapes.
We completed our wonderful Autumn stories and there has been great use of a variety of descriptive language techniques. We also focused on including our feelings in our writing. It makes our stories much more interesting.
We continued to use a variety of spelling activities to help us with our spelling,  More children are now able to identify when they have spelt a word incorrectly and they are able to correct their spelling mistakes on their own. Wonderful!
We are delighted to have all our entries for the Dunfermline Rotary Club completed.  We have entered the Young Artist competition and the Writing competition and the theme is Rebuilding.  The artwork is a mixed media work focusing on rebuilding the Earth.  They are wonderful with intricate detail.  For the Writing competition we entered three different types of poems.  Some children wrote acrostic poems, some did Haiku's and some children attempted a perforrnance poem. They enjoyed listening to Michael Rosen performing his poems and wrote a poem in a similar style.  The writing produced by the children is absolutely fantastic and I am super proud of all their efforts over the past four weeks.
A highlight of this week was working on our Christmas Enterprise.  Congratulations goes to Hannah and Aidan who were selected as managers for the Christmas Enterprise.  Both these children always give a high level of effort in all their schoolwork and homework tasks and they are kind and considerate towards others.  The following children have also been appointed as department managers:  Kornel - Finance manager,  Phoebe - Advertising Manager, Isla S - Production Manager, Josh - Market Research Manager and Grace - Quality Control Manager. Well done to all of these children.
We will make beaded keychain snowmen in pyramid boxes,  recycled paper Christmas tree decorations and tealight holders and we are excited to sell our items at the School Christmas Fayre. The recycled paper decorations links to our John Muir award work.
Lots of wonderful homework is also being completed by the children and I am enjoying looking at this on Seesaw.
On Friday we dressed down for Chilrden in Need.  It is such a wonderful cause to be part of.
Our Social Target Winner of the Week is Anna.  Anna is always kind, gentle and friendly towards her classmates. She is a very popular member of our class. Well done Anna!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
