It has been another extremely busy week in our classroom. We have worked hard on making sure our work is neat and tidy and that we are organised before we start our tasks.

Homework has been of a very high standard and it is pleasing to see the children engaging very well with spelling, reading and homework grid tasks. Thank you for taking the time to help your children with these tasks. I am sure they really appreciate your support.

We enjoyed shooting some hoops during PE and had a two team relay race.  After initially not being able to net a hoop, the children tried different techniques.  We looked at different ways to shoot a hoop and everyone improved  and achieved success. Well done!

In Maths we have been working very hard on identifying numbers that come before and after a given number. We have benefited from working with our maths buddy and the layout in jotters is organised. We will now move on to counting on in multiples and creating sequences.

We are delighted to be part of "The Big Sing" Fife Youth Music Initiative event and enjoyed a fabulous morning with Mrs Mair on Wednesday.  We heard that we will sing in a mass choir that will perform at Rothes Halls in Glenrothes in March.  Mrs Wehmeyer was most impressed with the super listening skills and good manners show by all the girls and boys. We look forward to our next session in two weeks.

In Literacy we looked at different types of nouns and we organised them into five groups.  Everyone showed a very good understanding of this.

For Writing we use our outdoor learning experiences and knowledge of John Muir to construct Haikus. Haikus is Japanese poems. It usually celebrates nature.  There is only three lines in a Haikus and they have to follow a specific format. The first line of the poem has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables and the third line has five syllables. These short form poems were a lot of fun to create and there has been wonderful imagery created in these. We had lots of ideas for our writing and it was a very enjoyable activity.

We have completed our John Muir fact files and gained a lot on new knowledge about this very important Scottish conservationist. We are busy making a map of our playground.  We also collected many small flowers for a secret project we will be undertaking.

The Social Target Winner of the Week is Hannah. Hannah is a most responsible class member. She has a wonderful work ethic and always strives to give her very best effort.

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
