We have had a fantastic week of learning in P5/6! It has been great to be in the field in the good weather.
This week there has been a big focus on starting our project on Mary, Queen of Scots. We did a lot of preparation for this, got all our notes completed and continued watching the excellent video of "The Red Queen". It has really helped everyone understand the quite complicated  story of Mary, Queen of Scots.
The effort with the project work has been absolutely superb and everyone has written the introduction and first part of their project; adding in pictures and drawings to enhance their work. There is a wide variety of topics the children are looking at. Some are looking at her life and there are Entertainment and Games, Housing, Fashion, Battles, Jobs people had, Food and the issues between Mary and her cousin Elizabeth 1.
There is a lot of enthusiasm for the project and lots of new knowledge has been gained by everyone. We look forward to sharing these projects with our parents.
We viewed an excellent powerpoint presentation looking at changes in our bodies as part of Health Education. There was sensible discussion and thoughtful answers given on this topic. Well done everyone!
We are also busy preparing our class planter in the playground. On Thursday we took turns with weeding and digging around the soil to loosen it up. We hope to start painting the planter on Friday but are also planning to add Zentangle patterns to ours. When it is completed, we are going to plant fragrant herbs inside it.
In Maths, we are looking at different types of angles and how to draw triangles using a protractor.
We are using different strategies for our Spelling work and hope to improve further in this area this term.
It has been great for some pupils to partake in Basketball and Hockey sessions which was delivered at school this week. Lots of happy faces!
Huge congratulations goes to Mollie Fraser who is the Social Target of the Week winner. Mollie has really enoiyed working on her project and has showed great resilience and problem solving skills this week.
Thank you to Mr Keane for demonstrating some Cello playing to all of us this afternoon. We really enjoyed listening to him and joining in with the music .
We wish everyone a wonderful Bank holiday weekend! Fingers crossed for some continued sunny weather.
