A fantastic week has gone by in Primary 5/6 with lots of hard work and application by everyone.
Congratulations goes to Gael for being selected as the Scots poem winner. The other two finalists were Ryan and Isobel. You were all super confident when you recited and is was so difficult for Mrs Howie and Mrs McIntosh to decide on a winner.  Again, thank you to all children in the class who worked hard on learning their poems and showing a can-do attitude.
We used our ICT time to complete a fact file about the life of Robert Burns.
We have also weaved a tartan using strips of paper. On top of it we have put a Scottish image completed with wonderful Scottish words.  This will all form part of our 'Scots Wurd Wa' display.
We complemented our Space display wall with a group display on the planets in the solar system.  Lots of new knowledge have been gained about the planets.
In number work we have worked very well on simplifying of fractions using our multiplication/division skills. We did see that we really need to know our time tables well to assist us with this work.  There has been super work on finding fractions of certain amounts.  We will now move onto addition/subtraction of fractions with like/unlike denominators.
In writing we are busy writing a report on the life of Major Tim Peake, the first British astronaut to go into space. We are focusing on using headings to organise our writing and making sure we write in our own words using our notes.
In Art we have been inspired to create Charles Rennie McIntosh rose designs using oil pastels and black felt tip markers.  He was a famous Scottish designer.
We really enjoyed playing the team game Exhaustion in PE. Lots of running, jumping, star jumps and fast feet.
In Spanish we looked at El Tiempo ( the weather ).  Lots of good pronounciation practiced by everyone.
The Social target of the week winner is Mollie L.  Mollie has worked very well on all Scottish activities this week. Well done!
We wish everyone a wonderful weekend!
