A super busy week in Primary 5/6 which has flown by with lots of hard work and effort on show by everyone.
The work on fractions continues and working in pairs on various concepts has helped boost confidence and aided understanding. We looked at types of fractions and ordering fractions by size.  There has also been super lay out and presentation in jotters.
There has been fantastic story writing on The Iron Man. Lots of figurative language was used to complete these stories and we have started looking at the life of the astronaut Tim Peake. We have made notes about him and will be using it to write a report on his life.
We continue to enjoy showing a better understanding of different texts through Literacy Circles and are enjoying reading aloud to one another focusing on changing our tones and voices to suit different characters in our reading.
Superb mixed media collages on an astronaut in space was one of the highlights of this week. Everyone showed lots of different art skills and took their time creating lots of detail in their work.
On Thursday we took part in a design challege to construct a Space shuttle using only 4 bits of white A4 paper.  We used a variety of problem solving skills, creative skills and design skills to create 3-D space shuttles to decorate our space project wall in class. This was a highly enjoyable activity and everyone demonstrated lots of effort and resilience to create their space shuttles. It has certainly brightened up the classroom. It was lovely to see how everyone helped one another figure out different  design challenges and there was fantastic discussions on which idea would work the best.
On Friday we all enjoyed listening to our classmates reciting their Scottish/Burns poems.  Well done to everyone for taking the time to learn your poems and for showing the confidence to perform in front of your peers. It was wonderful listening to all of your excellent efforts. The following pupils have been selected to recite their poem in front of Mrs Howie and Mrs McIntosh:
Gael, Ryan and Isobel. Very well done!
Congratulations goes to Kyle Shorthouse who has worked very hard this week  work showing resilience with all his tasks and winning the social target of the week award.
We wish everyone a restful weekend!
