Welcome to our primary 5 weekly update. This week in numeracy we have been looking at some of the rules and strategies for division, and developing a deeper understanding of the link betwen multiplicaton and division. One or two of you may have been impressed by your child's ability to tell if a number is divisible by 9 without even having to do the sum!
In literacy this week we have been learning how to retell a story and linking this to our topic on The Wars of Independence. We have covered all of the events leading up to the Battle of Bannockburn, and we are very excited about our trip to The Bannockburn Visitor Centre on Monday. A reminder that all children should come with snack, packed lunch and a warm jacket.
As it has been Sport Relief week we have taken part in a related activity each day. We have completed anagrams, played Akra and Mbube Mbube, worked on our fitness and we are continuing to learn to play Danish Handball. On Friday we took part in some fun activities in the hall to finish off the week. A big thank you to Mrs Hay and the Sports Committee for organising this.
We are continuing to be vigilant regarding handwashing, Some of the children are finding their hands are becoming uncomfortable because of this. The children are being reminded to dry their hands properly but If you feel your child needs to use handcream after handwashing then you are welcome to send it to school for your child to use after handwashing.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
