Hello. We are writing to explain what we have been learning this week in P5. Although it was a short week it has still been a busy one.
We have been continuing with our work on persuasive writing. For our final piece, Mrs Haddow challenged us to write a letter to Mrs Howie persuading her to allow us to have an end of term treat. After a discussion and a vote we decided we would like a popcorn party. As this was our final piece of persuasive writing, we knew we had to use good arguments and strong statements. Hopefully we have written well enough for Mrs Howie to say YES!
This week we started our lapbooks on different kinds of sea creatures. There are loads of amazing different sea creatures out there. We have each chosen one to research and we are discovering lots of information about them. We are excited to design and create our own lapbooks on the animals we have chosen.
Finally we have been learning about echolocation in science and discovering how noise polllution is affecting animal's health. This what we have been learning;
  • Under the sea, animals can't communicate because the noise made by jet skis, cruise ships, ferries etc, blocks them from using echolocation. It also stops them from finding their prey, so they are going hungry and some are dying. So we are trying to learn more about why this is happening and what we can do about it.
Many thanks for reading our post and have a lovely weekend.
