This week the children have been busy working away on their personal mini projects. All are very enthusiastic and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone's hard work in the last week of term.

In Literacy we looked at unusual spelling patterns, focusing on unstressed vowels ( different, interest, history etc ) and surprising sounds : wa and wo. Our extended writing this week was a persuasive piece, giving a balanced argument for the statement,  'School uniform should be banned'. We had quite a debate whilst discussing and planning our content.

We continued our 'Position, Movement and Angle' work in Numeracy. We worked with grid references and compass points this week. We found moving the shapes to new co-ordinates quite tricky at first but once we realised we could use the numbered squared paper to guide us, we found it 'rather satisfying'.

In Art we started zen tangling pictures which we hope to finish next week. We kept the patterns in the cut out shapes monochrome and are adding them to a contrasting colourful background. They are very effective and look great. In P.E. we had fun continuing our Fitness work. We played several high energy games, such as Movement Bingo and Corners which are fantastic at getting our heart rates into the aerobic zone.

We finished off the week with Red Nose Day on Friday. We had funny outfits, silly jokes and lots of yummy cakes to eat. The whole class have worked really hard to ensure that the day was a great success and that everyone in school enjoyed themselves. Thank you P5 ; you're all stars !!

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.
