We've had a very productive week practising our presentation for Friday's Reconnector and finishing off posters for next week's Red Nose Day. We can't wait .... We also had our FMI Big Sing on Tuesday when we finally got to meet the creator of all the wonderful songs that we have been perfecting since August last year. The children all looked the part and sang their hearts out for Ms Marsh. We learned about 'creating pictures' using our bodies to enhance our performance, which was fun.

In Literacy we continued to develop our Writing Tools skills : correctly using capital letters, full stops, commas etc to uplevel our writing. We are beginning to appreciate how important their correct use is to support communicating through written work. We continued the next chapters in our readng groups, listened to our class novel, completed our spelling work and practised a cloze procedure  (choosing a suitable word to fill the space) called the Rainbow Serpent. It was challenging but we came up with some fantastic words.

We looked at symmetry in Numeracy this week as part of our Position, Movement and Angle work. We looked for, and also added, lines of symmetry in both regular and irregular 2D shapes. We hope to move onto grid and compass references next.

As our Wallace and Bruce topic has now finished, we are researching our own topic of interest and hope to make mini projects over the next couple of weeks. So far we have chosen some interesting subjects such as football clubs, Taylor Swift and pigs !! Next term we will be giving short personal presentations in class, so these mini projects could be used to support that.

Thursday was World Book Day. The children all came to school wearing their jammies/onsies etc and carrying blankets to make dens, and teddies and cushions to cuddle. We had a terrrific day which I know everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We've put loads of photos on Seesaw to share the day with you. We watched a live broadcast with the author Sarah Bowie who showed us how to draw the characters in her new book. We then had a go at creating our own book characters as well as entering the competition to design a new book token as part of WBD. We got to visit the school book swap which was so well stocked that we were able to take up to 5 books home. The children chose well and were absolutely delighted with their free 'gifts'. In the afternoon we had juice and a biscuit whilst reading and sharing our new books together. Thank you to Mrs Watt and her P6/7 and P7 WBD Helpers.

After such a busy week I think we all desreve a well earned rest. Have a fabulous weekend everyone.
