Our first full week back for Term 3 !!

In Literacy we continued to identify parts of a sentence and practised up levelling our written work. We focused on Funtional Writing this week and started with informal letter writing. We have been practising our Scottish poem in class : " Up in the Morning Early". Don't forget a copy of the poem is available on Seesaw to support the children at home. In Handwriting we practised copying a short piece of written work, ensuring accuracy as well as correctly formed lettering.

In Numeracy we have been working on division, looking at a variety of suitable strategies, a long with tackling word problems. We have discovered the 'easy method' when dividing by 10.100 & 1000 ( but do understand that we are not  'just getting rid of the zeros !! ) We are continuing to practise our tables to support in our division work and we are able to demonstrate the link between division and multiplication.

Our new topic for the term is " Wallace and Bruce " and we are very excited about learning more about our local history. We hope to add a class trip in relation to our work, later in the term.

We have now started our 6 week block on Gymnastics and hope to build on our existing skills to set up and complete more complex circuits. Our singing practise for the Fife Festival of Music is coming on well and we were extremely lucky to have Mrs Baxter return to school this week to provide piano accompaniment and to offer her invaluable support.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
