We've had another busy week in Primary 5.

In Literacy we have continued to effectively use connectives in our writing. Along with weekend news, we created a short story about a young boy standing alone by the train tracks at night and another about an octopus trying to rescue his friend from the fishmonger. For spelling this week we came up with some silly sentences, where we tried to include as many of our words as possible. We mangaed to 'squeeze in' this week's reading groups on Thursday and have now set new homework pages.

In Numeracy we have been practising more complex word problems for money and have been learning about personal and business budgeting. We completed group challenges to plan for a birthday party and a weekly shop. We had to make provisions for each scenario, ensuring we kept within budget; not an easy task. We used a variety of strategies to support our calculations, including partitioning numbers, adding-on using a number line and chimney sums.

Mrs Mair, the FYI Music Teacher visited this week and was, again, very impressed with our efforts. We also teamed up with P4 again to practise our songs for the Fife Festival of Music which takes place at the end of January. Our themed songs are all about 'Friendships'.

In P.E. we practised the Virginia Reel for our Christmas party and were introduced to the Military Two Step, which is also an energetic dance, which consequently led to a few pink faces - including Mrs Heggie!!

For Art, we continued to work on the craft for our Christmas Fayre stall next month. We can't wait!! !!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
