We've managed to cram quite alot into this shortened week. We had a visit from the FYI Big Sing teacher Mrs Mair on Wednesday when we had the opportunity to impress her with our singing. She was delighted with how much the children had achieved, how enthusiasict they were and how well they all participated and sang. I was one VERY proud teacher.

In Literacy our writing is progressing well. There is a definite uplevelling of sentences and we are really beginning to use connectives appropriately. Reading was heard for all this week and new home pages have been set. The children are making good use of the Homework Grid and weekly spelling lists and I am thoroughly enjoying all the contributions being shared on Seesaw and brought into school.

We continued with our subtraction work in Numeracy and are seeing the benefits from setting out our work more carefully and methodically. We worked specifically on word problems this week and moved on to 2/3 step calculations.

For our final lesson on 'Oceans' we watched a video clip about oil spills and learned about the long term environmental devastation they produce. We re created our own 'ocean oil spill' and got to see first hand the negative impact it has on water quality and ocean wildlife.

In  R.M.E./Art we learned about the festival of light, Diwali, which takes place this Sunday and made our own rangoli designs. We also watched a video explaining all about the use of poppies and listened to a reading of the poem
" In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae. Very moving!!

We have started practising typing to support our IT and keyboard skills. We are using the BBC Dancemat programme which is available at home if you want to have a go.... And finally, we have started to think about our contribution to the Christmas Fayre. We came up with individual ideas for a company name and logo and will make a decision next week.

You should have had your Cauliflower Cards order home with your child on Thursday. Please check bags if you haven't been handed it.

Have an enjoyable long weekend.
