Primary 5 have been working  hard on their Writing this week, as part of a Fife wide initiative. After an initial assessment, a target for change will be set every 3 weeks for the children to focus on. Each day, the children will have a different stimuli to engage them in their writing, which will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Our first week's target is "I am learning to correctly punctuate at least 3 sentences in my writing." This week we had a photograph of a dolphin, a short video on the Jewish Festival of Rosh Hashana and a mystery object to write about.

In other areas of Literacy, we worked on our comprehension skills, class reading groups, spelling,  handwriting practise and we listened to more of our class novel.

In Numeracy we have been looking at the various strategies for addition; using number squares, counting on and partitioning numbers. We will concentrate on vertical addition (chimney sums ) next week. We had fun on Thursday when we had the opportunity to use our number skills and 'play dectective' with a partner  to solve a mystery.

In our 'Oceans' topic we learned more about the Indian Ocean and how the waters are used to support the surrounding populations. We learned about the importance of a good night's sleep in HWB  and in P.E. we continued to practise ball skills and had fun playing an elimination tackling game. Our Art this week is a BIG secret : more information to follow shortly.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
