This week Primary 4/5 alongside Primary 5 enjoyed attending the music festival at The Carnegie Hall. The children were a credit to the school and all received the social target this week for looking smart and being well mannered to members of the public. The children sang three songs and the comments received echoed the talent on display! Well done to all the children involved and a special thank you to Mrs Baxter for all her hard work in the lead up to this important event. A huge thank you to the parent helpers who supported us on the day and made sure our props and children were in safe hands! If you missed our performance, a quick snippet of our rehearsal is available online through Seesaw. It is filmed by a pupil so it is a little shakey however it gives you a small glimpse into the talent showcased.

The pupils then wrote personal recounts on their experience on their return. This allowed the children to think about their favourite part of the experience and to consider the different roles of being in the audience and performing on stage, commenting on each aspect. This personal recount also focused on their use of time openers/connectives and Miss Graham is seeing steady progress in this.

During our numeracy sessions, the focus has moved onto reading and interpreting simple timetables/time durations. As mentioned last week it is essential that this learning is practised in a real life context so any additional support at home is appreciated. Whether that be looking up train, bus timetables or cinema times etc.

Thank you for being very prompt on your response regarding the permission slips for Seesaw. I am sure you agree this is a super way for you to see inside the classroom and the learning in real time! Can I please ask that the remaining slips are completed by Monday and handed into Miss Graham or the office to ensure we are meeting the guidelines set by the local authority.

Have a great weekend,
Miss Graham
