Good afternoon

This week we have been very busy as we have been attending Scottish school and Ancient Roman School. We have been learning literacy and numeracy Scottish and Roman style. We had lots of fun creating Roman scrolls to work on, and we had some fun tasks to complete learning Roman numerals and working out messages written in Roman letters.
After learning about how the Romans built aqueducts to get clean water to their towns and cities we began a STEM task to design and build our own aqueducts. We drew detailed, labelled diagrams of our designs, and then got to work building our bridges. This proved quite tricky, and we had to practise our problem solving skills and our ability to work together in teams. It also involved lots of good thinking skills. Look out for our designs being posted on Seesaw very soon.
These activities were completed in a week where we were working very hard in our literacy and numeracy. We have continued to develop our multiplication skills, working on multiplying 2 digit numbers by a single digit. We are also practising our 3 times table and this is something you can help your child with at home.
In literacy we have been learning about the techniques reporters use to write eye catching headlines. We will be practising these skills in the next few weeks as we learn to write our own newspaper reports.
We completed our RSPB Schools Birdwatch and have submitted our results. Our bird feeders proved very popular and we spotted quite a range of birds, with gulls, magpies and blackbirds being the most common. We did also spot some smaller birds such as sparrows, blue tits and a robin.
I hope you have a fun weekend
