This week in Literacy we consolidated our recent work on synonyms, antonyms, similes and metaphors by completing a booklet of exercises. We took another look at the spelling of the days of the week and months of the year, a long with further practise of our personal group spelling words. We continued working on our comprehension skills and practised forming our letters correctly and neatly in handwriting.

In Numeracy we looked at Venn and Carroll diagrams and created our own using survey information gathered from the class. We had the opportunity to practise our number bonds within 100, using Topmarks' interactive game, Hit the Button.

For topic we finished looking at taste as part of our study of the senses. We took a crisp blind taste test which proved trickier than we had thought it would. We then researched the ear and discovered the 3 parts that help us hear. We watched a fascinating video about the Whispering Wall in Australia and made the traditional string and cup telephones to prove that sound can travel along solid surfaces.

In Art, we looked at how many successful painters use grids to help with the proportions of their work. We used a grid and copied a pencil drawing of Bart and Lisa Simpson which was quite challenging and required concentration but in the end we did pretty well.

For Outdoor Learning, we collected natural materials found in the playground and made pictures. It was great fun.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.
