Congratulations to all our participants in the Scots Poem recitals this week in celebration of Burns Day.  Mrs Howie and Mrs McIntosh were very impressed with the overall high standard and I was extremely proud of EVERYONE who took part.
In Literacy we looked at antonyms to match with the synonyms we covered last week. In Writing we worked together to brainstorm ideas of things that remind us of certain colours then we wrote our own colours poem. We are making good progress with our class novel, The Person Controller, and love coming up with predictions for each next chapter.

This week in Numeracy we continued our work on Time, with some of us moving onto 5 minute intervals after and to the hour. We are continuing to revisit o'clock, half past and quarter past/to to ensure secure understanding. We also completed activities to practise our tables. We have been consolidating our 3 and 4 tables, as well as introducing the 6 and 8.

Our focus for our topic, 'Our Bodies'  this week has been the lungs. We have been researching how they function and how best to look after them. In HWB we learned about how each food group in the Food Pyramid supports us to maintain a healthy body.

As part of the Big Garden Bird Watch, we shared responsibility to monitor and record any birds that visited our area of the playground. It was fun to learn about the different birds that we share our close environment with. After studying the local birds we made bird collages from old magazines and newspapers in Art.

For Outdoor Learning we collected materials from the playground and constructed nests to offer shelter for the birds. It was tricky trying to mesh everything together to make a solid home and we soon realised just how creative and clever those little birds are. Thank you to those who remembered to send in a change of shoes as it is still pretty muddy out in the playground and it really helps keep the  inside of the school building clear.

Wishing you all a pleasant weekend.
